Sheffield: Development of collaborative quality assurance approaches with learning providers (Case study) The Sheffield Learning for Life partnership is a long-established city-wide consortium involving all the secondary schools, 31 work based learning providers, three further education colleges, Sheffield Hallam University, the local authority, the Learning and Skills Council and the local business partnership. Sheffield Futures, the company which delivers the Connexions IAG services, is active in the partnership. This case study explores the main features of its collaborative quality assurance and improvement model co-ordinated by a central local authority team. A formal system of tendering and contract management for work-based learning providers is used along with a supportive, developmental approach.
