East Midlands event for consortium leads

26 February

An event for local authority 14-19 strategic leads and consortium leads from the East Midlands and other regions will take place on Friday 26 February at Yew Lodge Hotel in Kegworth.

Morning session: Briefing on Raising the Participation Age (RPA) by Government Office East Midlands (GOEM) and the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).
9.30am -1pm (including lunch)

Afternoon session: Peer-to-peer workshops hosted by the regional team of consortium advisers as part of the LSIS/National College Leadership and Management Development Programme.
1.00 – 3.30pm

Malcolm Ferguson will lead the peer-to-peer workshops, supported by Caroline Wilkinson, Mo Kelly and Jeremy Curtis. One workshop will look at sustainable funding and another will look at the experiences and outcomes of an Ofsted inspection and the consortium's follow-up action plan.

These workshops are ideal for those leaders who would like to:

  • work jointly with another consortium on ideas and solutions
  • ask others about their approaches to aspects they are finding difficult
  • share their successes on a specific topic with others.

Leaders can:

  • learn about leadership approaches and practice in other consortia
  • ask colleagues in other consortia about their responses to specific issues.

The aims of the workshops are to:

  • encourage peer-to-peer discussions related to leadership and management
  • enable participants to share experiences and ideas
  • promote networking on this key theme both regionally and nationally.
