Booking now open for spring learning visits

17 December

Learning visits throughout the autumn term have demonstrated how well they are succeeding at disseminating experiences and learning, not only at the event itself but through the subsequent exchange of materials and networking of participants and hosts.

"Our presentations were very well received with plenty of questions and input from participants. Some good contacts were established - a number of participants agreed to send materials, information and assignments etc to others and to keep in contact, visit each others sites etc."
Sheffield host, 'One year on - the Diploma in Information Technology'

This method of peer learning is introducing participants to new ideas and tools and offering reassurance to many that their consortium is heading in the right direction. Learning visits are offering a range of benefits. These comments are from participants who attended a learning visit on information, advice and guidance (IAG) at Kingswood consortium describing the most helpful features of the visit:

"Headteacher was strong on his support for Diplomas and supplied both a sound philosophy and concrete examples."
"New ideas for more comprehensive IAG and choices programmed for Y9. Raised useful questions that need addressing regarding quality assurance."
"Successful pilots. Time to ask questions. Honesty of presenters in being open about failures."
"Gaining an overview of how the partnership works. Understanding the different tools needed to make the IAG partnership work."
