Peer learning in the North West: a network approach to collaborative quality assurance

1 December

The first meeting of the North West Collaborative Quality Assurance (CQA) Network will be held in Warrington on 2 December. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for colleagues across the region to continue to share practical insights on how developments in collaborative quality assurance are progressing. An overarching aim in establishing the network is to strengthen peer learning within and beyond the region. All areas are encouraged to identify particular examples of criteria, agreements, processes and actions which are improving practice in implementing CQA to share on the day. As a guide, two representatives from each local authority are invited, but there is some flexibility.

The format of this first meeting is designed to maximise coverage across a number of key aspects of CQA from a peer perspective. Representatives from the sub-regional groups will be contributing practice which will be explored in small group workshops over the day. There will also be input from outside the region.

Workshop themes for exploration are:

  • approaches to driving/managing CQA: hosted by Liverpool local authority
  • CQA of teaching and learning (observation process): Cheshire East
  • CQA of information, advice and guidance: on the new Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) strategy and statutory guidance
  • Diploma administration and aggregation: Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA).

All North West local authorities have received details of the programme and workshop outlines. If any local authority/consortium has not yet registered please contact Jan Vallance (Regional Programme Administrator) at jan.vallance@yahoo.co.uk
