The role of the Consortium Adviser

Each consortium has its own Consortium Adviser. Their role is:

  • to help make sure that you are ready to implement the Diplomas
  • to inform, advise, support and challenge you throughout your Diploma journey.

Your Consortium Adviser represents all DCSF-funded programmes of support for Diploma consortia. They will help you put together a bespoke package of support to meet the needs of all your staff practitioners and support staff, as well as leaders and managers.

How does it all work?

A planned conversation continues to be at the heart of the service and of your relationship with your Consortium Adviser. It is anticipated that these conversations will be termly – but they can be more or less frequent depending on your needs. Informal contact can be maintained through other meetings, telephone calls and email. This process is not part of any DCSF assessment or monitoring system.

During the conversation you will be able to reflect on your progress and identify any support needs you have within the context of the 2013 learning entitlement. The Consortium Adviser's brochure (PDF 204KB) describes this process and the role of the Consortium Adviser in more detail.

A support plan will be written up after the conversation. This plan will form the basis of any referrals made by the Consortium Adviser to other organisations that are providing DCSF-funded support programmes. It will also refer to the resources that will be provided by your local authority, for example advice and support from your local authority’s 14-19 co-ordinator.

Where leadership and management development priorities are identified, support can be requested from LSIS/National College, including:
